French Side-event "Fissile Material Cut-Off Treaty" (April 28th, 2015)

Stressing the commitment and engagement of France in favor of disarmament, French president François Hollande, on February 19th, 2015, called the definitive end to the production of fissile material for weapons, a priority. The President announced that France would propose an ambitious, realistic and verifiable draft treaty on that subject in the coming weeks.

This text was filed Thursday, April 9th, 2015 as an official document of the Conference on Disarmament. It was also submitted as a working paper at the 9th NPT Review Conference to be held in New York from 27 April to 22 May 2015 .

On April 28th 2015, in the framework of the 9th Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, France organized a side-event to present its draft treaty.
