2013 Prepcom - Seminar on the French-British TEUTATES Cooperation Program (April 23rd, 2013)

Ambassador Jean-Hugues Simon-Michel participated with his British counterpart Jo Adamson, in a seminar on the TEUTATES program organized by the NGOs Christian CND, Abolition 2000, and STOP Nuclear Weapons.

This cooperation, launched by a French-British treaty signed on 2 November 2010, provides for the joint construction and operation of an experimental physics facility called EPURE, located at Valduc in Burgundy.
It should enable the realization of laboratory experiments designed to ensure the reliability and safety of nuclear weapons, in strict compliance with France’s international commitments, particularly under the Treaty of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) and the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).

This session, much appreciated by the NGOs who wished this exchange, proved, once again, the high degree of transparency that France and the United Kingdom practice about their respective nuclear programs.
